Hi. I'm restoring some old Swingstar Toms from the pre-Tama-era. What size do I need for the tension screws...M5 or what? Does anybode know where I can get these long ones for the single lug floor toms?
Vintage Swingstar
Have a pre-tama swingstar aswell (see below). Nice drums
Mine doesn't have "normal" threads, that are available at any hardware store.
Wouldn't know where to get. Maybe try here, a local vintage drummeeting, wait for Star-expert and VDF member Ralf or maybe more simply, change the lug inserts to modern standards.

Asian-made kids drums often have the same threading as MIJs and can be picked up for peanuts. I wish I could remember which member here turned me on to that because it has been a life saver. Of course you could use pretty well any t-rod from vintage MIJ kits

When it's restored, we'd love to see some pics ;-)
Gibraltar makes most sizes for most drums, be it vintage or modern..
