Vintage Pearl Fibre Glass Kit Need Info Ebay Purchase

Loading...

Hi Everyone

Just won these drums on ebay. Advertised as fibre glass shells. As usual did not pay much for them so will be quick clean and turn around. What i need to know is approx year of manufacture plus colour. Has anyone got one of these kits to confirm how good they are sound wise or build quality. Pics are from the person who im buying from not my pics as ive not picked them up yet. Any info much appreciated.

Looks like it`s in good condition...Like you stated, just some detailing needed...

Whoever owned them before certainly like to muffle the drums!! Possibly from the overtones of the fiberglass shells?

Please post more pics when you get them...

Cheers

Thanks Grantro. I noticed the fiber glass badge missing off bass drum. Not sure if floor tom has a badge. Snare drum not sure if its steel or brass plus as you mentioned excess muffling. Apart from small details it should turn out nice and get some profit. Always wondered what fiber glass drums sounded like. Just goes to prove as ive always said you can find the bargains just gotta keep on the prowl like me. I paid £100GBP and reckon ill get that for the snare drum alone. What year do you reckon on these drums. Will post more pics once i get them. Never had pearl this is a first. I deal mainly in premier hayman olympic and john grey. Thx sean

That snare could very well be steel. It has two bands around the shell as opposed to three, which is typically an easy way to distinguish steel from brass Pearls. It looks like it also has the super cool Gladstone strainer. I have this exact steel snare drum and it's a great sounding instrument.

Nice kit - those fiberglass Pearls are proving to be popular, and these should clean up nice and sound great!

Jonlec. Yes i think you are right about the snare drum. As you all know i sell everything on. I took a chance on the kit as it was badly advertised and swooped in like a vulture. Never dealt with pearl before. Had some tamas. Just mainly dealing in the british stuff as its easy here in the UK to find bargains. The kit seems to look in good nik. There is the fiber glass shells then the wood fiber shells any difference in quality or sound. Thanks guys for the input.

I have the kit now and all the shells plus snare drum are in top condition. The guy that sold them to me was a fab guy, he had these from new in 1974. I wanted to show the fiber glass shells plus look at how clean the interiors are plus no rust any where. No rash from toms on bass drum nor any rash behind the 12 and 13 toms. As always ill let the pics do the talking.....Thx sean.
