I am the original owner of this kit. It was used for gigs about 10 years and stored away. This Club Date style of Ludwig drums, have a unique voice of their own, from a combination of 3 ply shells and centered tension lugs. The sound could be described as open, full and resonant. This Combo has a couple of options that were not part of the standard Ludwig package: The standard acrolite snare was optioned for the pioneer snare and the SpeedMaster pedal was optioned out for a SpeedKing. The kits consists of a 14 x 20 bass drum Keystone badge # 150692 with a stamped date on the inside shell of July 9, 1965. The snare 5 x 14, badge # 153835, stamped July 9, 1965, the tom 8 x 12, badge # 150675, with the date stamp is not visible, but was purchased at the same time. There is some typical of age, very light “rash” on the lugs and chrome hardware and some very slight lifting on the ends of wrap on bass and tom that could be re-glued. There were some breaks in the sparkle inlay wrap on the bass drum hoops that have been re-glued and the hoops repainted due to pedal and spur bite marks. As pictured the tom is missing the bottom rim and tension rods. The snare batter head rim has an area about 1 to 1 ½ in that is beaten down a little on top of rim, (rim shot gate). Outside of big band and jazz gigs, there were some heavy handed playing days, (lots of rim shots with aluminum sticks). Both tom and snare rims have my initials etched into them, (sorry it was for identification if they should be “lost” during extended gigs). All pictured hardware is included, cymbal “L” arm, speedking pedal, (minus one bearing seal cap), original snare stand, (missing rubber tips on legs), hex wrench plus original Ludwig lug key. The bass drum heads are the originals and seem functional however the snare and tom heads have become un-tucked over the years and will need to be replaced with your favorite choice of heads. The shells are all original with no extra holes or modifications with no signs of fading, and are in good overall condition considering the age with some light scratches and scuffs in the lower half of bass drum, but not noticeable unless very close-up. I have other pics if needed or if you need other shots let me know. I thought I would list here first before Ebay, since the members here have been very helpful and openly offered advice. I really would like to sell this as a complete kit to the collector or player, rather than parting anything out. It would be hard to assemble such a closely matched kit again. Asking now $450.00 FOB Okla. City area, for the kit but will consider serious offers. I don’t trade in drums, so I will need to collaborate with buyer on the best method of packaging and shipping. I will only pass on the actual cost incurred in of packing and shipping. Thanks for looking.
