My wife and I made a quick trip across the border from Amman up to Jerusalem over the weekend. We checked in at the Little Jerusalem Hotel on Jaffa Street at Zion Square then strolled down to the Cafe' Hillel just a block or so away. We had a bite of lunch then walked up the side street, turned left and again left then headed back to Jaffa Street. Low and behold, after being in the city just a little over one hour, what do I find on my left? DRUMBITE Music Shop and School in which there were 3 vintage drums sets. The proprietor, Assaf Kraus, was very welcoming and even offered to let me use a practice room while we were in Jerusalem. Unfortunately, time didn’t allow for that, but it was nonetheless appreciated. Here are a few shots. The first of Assaf and me next to his red sparkle Downbeat set. I noted the small tom had a 345xxx serial number. Next, his Ludwig Club Date in blue sparkle (the finish was in spectacular original condition and the bass drum was a boomer). Then in the back area of the shop a mid-60’s Slingerland (Gene Krupa I would guess) in champagne sparkle. He rents them to local drummers for special gigs. A fun first few moments in the city. Who would have guessed?

Dan!
What a great story and even better pictures! Nice to see what you look like! LoLoLoLo
Those are 3 beautiful vintage American kits! I guess it really proves that no matter where you go in the world, there seems to be a real appreciation for vintage 60's US-made drums. Thanks for sharing!

What a great experience that must have been. I'm sure he,s aware of the interest in vintage drums considering the internet brings drummers together from all four corners!
A wonderful visit to The Holy Flam .

Yes Mark, that picture reveals too much! I normally have a disguise but wasn't prepared that day.
I've had several occasions over the years where I unexpectedly found shops with vintage drums. Similar findings in Amsterdam 15 years ago and in Edinburgh in 2014. Seriously nice equipment in all cases.

Hey, hey Tommy, glad to oblige on the facial ID. I have to wonder if at some moment we may have passed each other at a drum show without knowing it at the time. I've been to the show that used to be held in MA at least once and also to the CT show. I am looking forward to getting out to the CT show in the spring of 2018 if it works out. If so, I'll look you up.
