Vintage Cymbal Sizzler Attachments

So I picked one up made by Cannon. BOTH arms came bent. Not quite sure how that happened. It is going back and a new one is on the way. Those arms the rivets are on are thin, I can see how a few hits with a stick could bend them up quite a bit.Wes

These fold up type cymbal sizzlers are from the mid-60`s.Did any of you guys use these and if so what were they actually called-did they have a specific name and who invented them? Two of mine have 'Cam' inscriptions on the wings but no'co' so could they be Camco? The bottom one is a 'mij' and i always thought these were kind of cool, as in an instant- you had a sizzle sounding cymbal. Any thoughts on these old accessories...Wayne

I has one of the ones with three rivits on each side during the '60s. I don't recall the brand. They were certainly convenient but didn't sound as good as the real thing. I think it was because as light as the arms were there was still too much weight on the cymbal and the rivits vibrating between the arms and the cymbal were not as free to move around. It wasn't as bad as I'm making it sound, it just wasn't great. If it had been, perhaps these sizzlers would still be a popular item.

The key is not to hit them. :)
