Just want to pipe in and say that I love that wrap too- just another example of how imaginative and artistic the drum companies used to be with those. Congrats!

Alternatively, if someone is in southern California the drum is in San Diego but it's possible to meet as far north as Pendleton for a personal pick up.

I have a matching three piece kit. Still looking for the matching snare - I saw one on CL a while back, but the seller wanted WAY too much for it.

Just freaking awesome drums in my books, thanks for posting! It looks 20,13,16 to me, am I right? I guess a matching snare could be steel? Plenty of pre Tama king beats types floating around? If I were you I'd be grabbing the original posters tom and running the two 16's with different tunings. Although a bit more of a stretch than a 14,16 it would still make for an awesome and unique setup. The only other pre Tama set I know of running two floor toms is my own Boston WMP kit, (16 recently aquired) and I'm absolutley having a ball with it!

No, the matching snare was wood with the same wrap - very cool looking. Mine has no ID on it at all, but the snare had a U.S. Mercury badge on it. Still got my eye out for one...

See, now this is what I don't get. Everone just rags and rags on these MIJ sets/drums, until they have one for sale. The snares, 70-130???? No way 40-60 is all the money, unless they are a Jupiter or Yamaha or King Beat, WITH parallel strainer, then I can see 100-120. And the kits, rag-rag-rag, until someone wants to sell one, then 400....Agian, no. They are worth 200 max, in most cases, and maybe 250 if all the heads are new. I'm sorry if someone just put $150.00 in new heads on, but it does not make them worth that much more. So if you want to sell a MIJ kit, don't rag on them then ask me to give you 400 for them.

I know you guys feel the same way, We love these, but someone is trying to pass the idea around to raise the prices on these sets, when the market and the quality just does not dictate higher pricing!

This is not pointed at the people who know, but those that don't, or want us to think they don't get it. Now those Presidents cletus just put up??? That is what the market says they are worth. Those are some seriously nice cans!

I'm an admitted noobie to vintage drums, but this is a symdrome I've noticed too. The most commonly asked question you see on any drum forum (and I'm sure it's not just drums, it's any vintage item) is "How much is this worth?" But the answer to that question is so completely subjective that the answer has no real meaning. What people sould really be asking the experts is either "How much would you sell this for?" or "How much would you pay for this?" - two completely different question which are guaranteed to have different answers, even from the same person.
