I'd thought I'd share this drummers only two kits. I'm not much of a gear guy, mainly by choice, but also from lack of funds. My friends are always telling me I change kits like most change their underwear. I just can't justify having more gear than I need.
So, on the left is my 1967 Trixon with a Slingerland wmp snare and on the right is my latest find, a Ludwig Club Date with an Acrolite snare. Zildjian cymbals on both kits.
Nice kits! By your analogy I guess I'm three turntables and a microphone...I can't justify having more gear than I need either, but alas it still seems to fill my basement. I love how cool vintage gear motivates me to play better music. I think I play better because I don't want to disrespect the gear. You can't show up with a 67 Trixon and stink the place up, you just can't.

Those both are great kits, you have owned several nice drums! A drummer really only need one kit right?

Of course nobody "needs" more than one drum kit, or one of anything that you're not born with. For me, it's mostly curiosity about something that makes me want to possess it at some point. When I first started, I would hear or read about various legendary drums, pedals, cymbals, etc., but never had the chance to actually play them. I wanted to find out for myself what all the fuss was about for myself. Along comes the Internet, and suddenly those things become accessible. I finally got a Dynasonic. And lamented over some of the things I had, but sold before I knew what I had.
It's all about that curiosity, that itch that you have to scratch.

If you would have kept every kit you showed us then you would be in the lead for most drums. I will be selling off 95% of my gear real soon. Five years ago when I bought my first vintage kit I told my wife someday I will sell it and we will go on a trip. Now with 15 drum sets and several cymbals, stands and snare drums we are planing a big trip, over the pond. Those drums do get played but not much. Fun to rotate them every few months but I can live with one or two kits.

Only 2 but very nice kits. Reminds me of the poor shmoe that only has 2 cars; a '63 Vette and a '65 Shelby Cobra.
