Trixon , were the A.Zildjian distributors in Germany during most of their history, sharing this duty and priveledge with Sonor later on. They also carried Paiste and what were simply described as Silber Cymbals(Silver cymbals). The Zildjian and Paiste were available with a Trixon stamp on them as well as the makers stamp. The Silber Cymbals(likely ,Meinl) were available with only a Trixon stamp on them. If a customer bought a Trixon kit, with cymbals, they would come stamped Trixon, if such were available at the time but Trixon obviously distributed cymbals to dealers that did not sell Trixon drums , so cymbals originating with Trixon were sold without the Trixon stamp too.

Recently ,an odd Trixon stamped hi-hat pair sold on ebay.de for a rather high price, obviously being seen as collectible. http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemnext&item=140582308943.html. There are other connections between Trixon and Boosey&Hawkes. When Buddy Rich was wooed by Trixon to play their drums for 6 months, one of the things they lacked was an offset snare stand. One showed up in 1967, as the Super Profi model----the one Buddy played. A scan of a 1967 Ajax catalogue shows the very same stand(only the adjuster on the bottom is different), as a new development. Previous Ajax stands had spring loaded legs and were very Trixon like as well. Catalogue shots of the Ajax Vibraphone , also seem almost identical to one of the Trixon models. It is very clear who made the 13" hi-hats above but given the identical nature of the other two items(they are unlikely to be copies) , I wonder who actually made them?

Cool info.

I love Trixons. They are the epitome of retro-cool.
