Trixon at Benefit Gig

Loading...

We are doing a benefit show for Jingle Bell Run today. I just thought I'd post some pictures of the Trixon on it's maiden voyage, with me anyway. All set up and ready to rock, complete with the original tom arm Leedybdp.:Santa:

Thanks granto, btw, the Trixon logo head I normally have on the kit doesn't have a hole. I knew the sound guy would freak out, so I took a clear head I had laying around that already had a hole, painted it white and wrote the Trixon logo with a felt pen. It came out pretty well and the kit sounded fantastic.

I am proud of you, Grasshopper. Mounted toms deserve to be mounted on their bass drums. That Trixon set is very cool.

I'm not sure how a drum can deserve anything, but I get your point. Like I said, if the tom mount on a kit can position to my liking and functions well at gigs, I have no problem using them. It actually makes it easier to use a tom arm, I don't have to bring another snare stand, but sometimes it's necessary.

While I was setting up, one of the young sound guys was watching me and I started telling him about the kit. I mentioned how it had faded in some places, he says, just remove the wrap and paint them. I tried to explain to him that you don't remove a wrap from a vintage kit unless it's totally shot and how it would greatly de-value the kit. He had a puzzled look on his face and didn't seem to grasp what I was saying.DOH

The kit looks great and I bet it sounded awesome! Yea, some people just don't understand vintage and what that means....

Thanks for sharing

Michael

If that sound guy is a guitar player, I wonder what he'd think about a very old guitar of his favorite type in ideal playing condition with a beat to sh*t finish. We've all seen 50's and 60's Strats, Teles, Les Pauls, etc. that have beautiful new paint jobs and have been devalued greatly from their road worn condition.
