Nice kit once they are all cleaned and shined up. I would have those looking **** after some cleaning. As far as that other Ludwig drum guru guy bashing on this kit has no right to rip on them because i would have grabbed those in a flash and would gladly spend all day cleaning those up, reheading them and playing them. Did you get the mounting system for the tom?
Trash score!!! Help w/info please
I get your point and i agree, i never claimed they were a good drum i just thought they were a cool find. They are possibly the worst made drums ever, but..... so what!!! They were free, it's not like i chose to buy them. I do have an old acrolite snare and i love it, but those guys had been making drums for years by the time these pearls came along it was one of the first kits they put out. So, are they worth anything...no, do i still think they're kinda cool..... yes.
Man, you get those puppies shined up and dialed in, and they will have some real old school mojo going on!!
I dig the older wraps and hardware... way cool in my book.
Get back to us with an update!
Peace
Kevins
These are classic Pearls and worth every cent you`d put into them. I agree with what`s been recommended- sand the bearing edges lightly and polish up the chrome. I suggest Remo coated ambassadors for both top and bottom of the toms and the reso of the bass drum. For a nice bass sound I recommend an Evans EMAD 2 clear if you can still find one (being phased out I think), or an EQ4 clear bass drum batter. These type of snares work well with a Remo Suede ambassador batter and I like the Evans hazy reso. All tricked out something like that and you`ll be ready for the show. That kit as it is, uncleaned, in Osaka, is worth 120$ on auction.

Funky old kit rj, very nice.
back in about 1994 I was getting a blues band together and wanted a 2nd kit to play/gig with, and i found a pearl blue sky pearl kit in a shop, same badge as that, which from pearls website says 1958 or started 1958.The interesting thing was the constuction the kick had 3 rerings one in the center of the shell, the floor tom had 7 lugs per side. The bearing edges had some issues but once I got them cleaned up that wrap looked great, and under lights it killed, people would comment on how good the drums looked, and had a killer vibe for what we were doing,I was greatfull that I found and could afford them and I got alot of use and enjoyment out of them. Please post pics after you get them cleaned up.
