Thumb Screw Tensioner for Zoomatic Strainer

Loading...

I just received a gorgeous Slingerland Sound King snare I'd found online, with a Zoomatic strainer- but unfortunately, the cap to the thumb screw of the snare adjuster is missing, so I have to twist the screw to fine tune the snare tension. Does anyone have the cap you twist to adjust tension?

Thanks!

Once the knob comes off, that's pretty much it! They can be rebuilt, though. What I've done is to get a larger tone control knob, drill it out to 5mm, and press-fit it onto the shaft. Works every time. The only problem is that it's tough to find 5mm drill bits. I purchased mine on eBay. US size drill bits were either to small or too large a hole to work properly. Attached are pictures of a Zoomatic I repaired some years ago. I also have another Zoomatic I repaired just a few months ago. The knob won't come off!

Believe it or not - I do! It's either for the Zoomatic or a muffler knob. Not sure....how do I tell?

PM sent.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Muffler is drilled right through and threaded (as per the pic) ... Zoom' is a push on affair.. not threaded..

As previously mentioned, a nice knob from a guitar also works well. I've got a Zoomatic on a 60's COB Sound King with a knurled guitar knob, with a beautiful abalone pearl insert! Wish I had a picture to post!

Then what I have is a MUFFLER knob. Oh well. Thanks for the info. Some company should start remanning Zoomatic knobs.

John, I'd still be interested in your muffler knob, might try and drill it out as has been suggested here!

Is there a Slongerland throw-off with the same hole spacing as the Zoomatic?

Thanks guys!

There's really nothing else that fits the Zoomatic hole spacing...except the Trick strainer with Zoomatic adapter plate. Very pricey.
