Thoughts on this Slingerland Set for sale

Loading...

Hi,

I don't know a lot about Slingerland's various drum periods so wanted thoughts on the quality of a mid-70's kit that's 3-ply w/ rings. Here's the link to the CL ad and it's for sale locally. Is this a reasonable deal? My thought is that it is... Thanks in advance for your feedback!

3 ply are the bomb. Looks like a good value with everything included. But $850 would be better!

I would pop for $800, and the seller can keep the snare drum. That looks like a great drum set for any gig or at home.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

At first, my lack of maturity had me giggling about the name of the town they are listed in, but after I got over that, I looked at the kit, and it looks great. The cymbals are nice and probably worth a good bit too. I'm with Levelpebble...see if you can get it for closer to $800. IMHO Even at $1K, with the cymbals and hardware, its a good deal.

Stop stringing and tuning your instrument, make music now.

Nice kit! It was either the Modern Solo 2R or New Rock 50N. Same drums, just different set of stands. The bass drum muffler is an add-on and has the old style "torpedo" knob. I have one of these mufflers. They take up too much real estate in the bass drum and you need to be careful with where the beater hits. A 22" bass drum is about the smallest I'd use it with. That aside, $1000 is still a good deal with the cymbals. I'd elect to keep the Sound King COB snare drum, which can really sound great! Like others have said, offer less and negotiate upwards a bit if you have too.

Oh, and yes, it's a quality kit! I've had both 3-ply and 5-ply shells and have always loved the 3-ply.

Good luck!
