This must be the world's record for a pair of hats

If they know each other, they would leave good feedback and either relist or sell another route. It's a win win. I don't believe a newbie on eBay would slap happily that much dough on these. Defies logic and probability.

I agree 1000 percent except for the "if" they know each other. They are definitely in cahoots or even the same person for that matter. I am sure with the coverage this site has on the marketplace, those hi hats will not go undetected if they pop up somewhere for sale. Anyone want to place any bets? Laughing H

I know of a few sales of 14" K hats between $1200 and $1400, and the ones for $1400 were new stamps. The hats in the auction are old stamp, and in excellent condition. They're also marked "heavy", which is rare, and means they are medium by today's standards, which many drummers would prefer. I think the price is high, but not outrageous for what they are.

Edit: just noticed the winning bidder is in Japan, which is surely part of the equation. The Yen has been stronger than the dollar since '08.

I use 14" K's from the 50's, they are my main hihats.

No way I'd sell them for $1,500. They are worth way more than that to me.

Maybe because I've been using old K's for about 40 years, the price on those hihats didn't strike me as unusual.

It's what someone is willing to pay, and they don't make real K's anymore.
