Photo 1: 1958 kit with matching canister throne I traded for the kit in photo 2.

Photo 2: 1940s aluminum badge RK 13/16/26. I left the 14 at home that night. The man I traded for these said he bought them from Barrett Deems in 1989. I don't have proof, but my friend has pictures of himself with Mr. Deems as well as the original calf head from the floor tom was signed to him by Mr. Deems with a personal joke between them dealing with the fact that they had become friends at the Chicago Playboy club.

Photo 3: Early 50s 5.5x14 RK that came with the kit in photo 2. The story goes that Slingerland sent Mr. Deems a 10-lug brass drum with the kit. He preferred wood RKs live, so got this drum in the early 50s to use live. He would not part with the brass drum when selling the kit to my friend.

Photo 4: Early 40s aluminum badge 7x14 RK, which is the best-sounding snare I've ever played.

Photo 5: 1930s Universal that I got from forum member Legacy drummer.

I'll try to keep this short. This is a 20/13/14 with chocolate milk interiors and small knob mufflers. I will eventually sell the 13 as it's in great shape - and an oddball with a 20" kick and 14" FT. However, the 20 has black moldy-looking spots (not the typical spotting on glass wraps, but large spots under the wrap). Someone re-wrapped the 14 and did not do a good job. I also have a project 12, 16, and Hollywood Ace - all with chocolate milk interiors, small knob mufflers, and shot wraps, or no wrap. I will eventually re-wrap them all...I just can't decide on color.

The 10 lug snares got to come out and play this weekend. Not quite as bright or loud as brass shell snares. Good thing at times. Yea I know the copper clad has a Ludwig strainer :-) Any one with a correct mint one please let me know.

Thanks,

Creighton

Hi All,

Been a while. My sentimental favorites from 1966. Probably the one set I'd keep if I had to choose because it's very similar to my first Stage Band kit.

68ish Light Blue Pearl. 22-16-13-12 choc milk interior. Have extra 22 stamped Mar 66 with clear interior I'm almost down with to add. Also want to add a small concert tom in LBP if I can find one. 2nd bass was drilled for a Rogers swivo mount at some point. So may work with that depending on the tom I can find. Snare is a 70's Krupa Sound King. Just overall great sounding drums! This was my first venture back into vintage drums a few years ago. Wrap is very nice shape with all COB hoops.
