Maple Dyna-sonic and a set of hardware accumulated in the early 1970s

With the generosity of Mark (idrum4fun), my 1966 Rogers Top Hat set now has a matching Luxor snare drum. I like the simple wood shell Luxor more than the 1963 metal shell Powertone snare that I had been using with the set. During this pandemic stay-at-home period I re-wrapped a set of previously re-wrapped old Ludwig bongos to come close to a match for the drum set.

Great pics. Now the only thing that Top Hat is missing is a cane.

Is the maple finish original? If it is, it's a rare bird. You see very few that weren't wrapped unless they had the Wildwood outer ply. Whatever, Wildwood was, the grain was very distinct and sometimes had a greenish tint. This one is a Wildwood kit. I've never seen one up close, but they pop up now and again.

Your Rogers maple BOP drum set is very nice looking. Do you think the drums were originally Wildwood finish with the faint red, orange, and green tints fading away completely?

Hey guys , Sorry for the delay in responding I had issues with signing in . Yes the are original natural maple finish . I thought they might have been a Wildwood that had faded when I bough them but when I got them in my possession and took em apart to start the major cleaning process I learned that they were natural . Yes very rare in that finish and with an 18" bass drum to boot . I dig the double spurs too ! These sound great and finally have a forever home with me after being neglected for many years .

Whoever ordered that set from the beginning thought through the implications of having a very small bass drum with a relatively heavy 8x12 (by the standard of the industry) hanging from one side. So the bass mount is at the front center so that the tom is swung in a bit for better weight distribution and the double spurs keep it laterally stable. A very rare and very beautiful Rogers drum set.
