Hello All.

I think Bill will know this.

Bought this from Ebay not recieved yet.

Think I've seen these inked as ' Flat Top' or Flat Bell'..

Not flatride but humongeous bell cymbals.

Can anyone date or give a sound profile of what I may expect ;) thanks.

Its an 18".

Looks like 1960's.

I would expect this one to be loud and brash sounding.

Did you ever see the ink stamp ' Flat Top' on these Bill? I have on Ebay. Seen three of these on the bay..) So that stamp is from the 60s..

Well. It'll be weird- least it won't (18") take up much space!

Yes, I have seen them on eBay too. But I don't recall ever seeing one in any of the old catalogues.

aha Sounds different than I could have imagined. Its a Light cymbal; bell reminds me of later Paiste SC Short Crash or the Crystal Crashes bell shape from Paiste. Much more organic tho; bell likes to be hit from side. Adds interesting overtones: not the usual 18" Zildjian...

It has a beautiful crash and I think I can use it as a ride..

Still like to know why these were made..its very vintage and I can blend it in with the Old Ks.. I like it.

Wonder why or what the request was to make this 'model'.

Think it was Flat Top ride; before actual flatrides.

Just want to know why..

I like it!

electricit Just wondering why in the world one would posit that such a cymbal would ever be labeled "flat top\bell"

Never seen on eof those,I have heard that the larger the bell, the louder the cymbal,From the soundfile it sounds very controlled esp for a light 18' cymbal, the wash doesn't seem to interfere or overopwer the stick at all.
