The thrill of the hunt????

Loading...

Well, a couple of months ago. I got a lead on a guy who had

10-15 sets of drum. Of course, it got my attention. This winter

was so cold and snowy, that I waited to pursue the lead.

Yesterday, I got in my car car and traveled 10 miles from where

I live to meet the prospect. I had a phone number, but it didn't

pan-out. I had to see the guy in person. I knocked on the door,

and a guy answered. I introduced myself, and told him I knew his

cousins, thinking this would score me some points, but it didn't.

The guy said he had many Rogers sets, including a ripple

Londoner set. I asked if any of the sets were for sale, as I'm

looking for a Rogers set. He said nothing was for sale. It was a

long trip home. The Rogers hunt continues.

Well now, I would have at least invited you in for a cup of coffee and a case of the drools.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I'm going to continue the Rogers hunt. He was impressed with

my Ludwig, Gretsch, and Slingerland sets that I have. Got a new

lead on a rogers tom, locally. It's a start. My only Rogers piece is a

stick tray that my dad bought in the 60's.
