The Tama/Camco drum pedal

Does anyone use one of the old Camco (Tama) chain drive bass drum pedal. I just bought one at a good price on Ebay that arrived a few days ago. Wow!! I have a few pedals; mostly have been using a newer DW5000 (plate on the bottom) and my old Ludwig Speed King.

So far, this Camco pedal is a winner! Smooth chain drive feel and my foot plays it with ease. Anyone else a lover of these pedals?

I've been using a Tama/Camco HP-35 pedal since 1981 or 82. I've since bought another for a spare.

Yea!! I remember in my formative years, my percussion director had the double pedal version and I remember playing that when practicing on his kit.

I've got two of them, They are great pedals. Very lively feeling.

I have three working versions of the Tama model. Very nice pedals. Relatively old design stemming from the Martin Fleetfoot pedal.

It is nice and light, everything I might like to have added to the pedal would make it heavier:

No offset hoop clamp tensioner

No footplate,

No spurs

etc etc

Yup, great pedals! I have had several and honestly can't say anything negative about them.

Hey, Brewkowski, I feel as if I could have written your post! I used my Speed King for many, many years & still love it. But, around 1997, I got a chain drive Tama/Camco to go with a newer set of Ludwigs that I'd just bought. Then, I got a DW5000 a few years later. I now never use the DW & seldom the Speed King, but use the Camco almost exclusively. It's light, responsive, reliable, and simple. A good choice for me.

I can't wait to use it in a live setting sometime soon. I could see myself using this pedal the vast majority of the time as well!

Me 2... It's light & breaks dwn small for transport...It's the easiest pedal to use in my collection of...

I like how easy it breaks down so that I can fit it in my hardware bag. My DW5000 has the plate under the bottom and it can be a pain to fit into the bag.
