I've seen a lot of talk about Lauan and other " lesser " woods and thought I would look into it a little. I've always been fascinated by our love of some woods over others. Would be great if there was a complete sonic catalog that dove into each woods sonic properties. I've always felt that if the drum is solid and in the round, it's good wood. But this page I came across dives into Mahogany, from what is accepted as " true " to the " fake " ones.

Might buy myself a copy of the book, as it looks to be very informative. What are everyone else's thoughts on wood strains. Is there a species you prefer?
