The Hunt for Steel Grey

Loading...

If anyone has a Rogers steel grey 9x13 from the Cleveland era that they are willing to part with, please send me a PM. Beavertail flat grey interior drum is needed. Serial number around 37XXX is likely to be ideal, but will consider any good flat grey beavertail drum whether Cleveland or Dayton.

I'm trying to match it to the two drums shown in the photo so as to construct a 20,13,16 set. I have a 12, but it doesn't match the other two all that well, so thought that if I could find a 13 it would make for a more interesting layout and might even be a better match.

Thanks,

have you tried buffing the shell that doesn't match to bring back the color?

I believe it has been treated about as much as one could thus far.

I posted a video quite a while back in the restore section where a guy cleaned a sky blue pearl ludwig in sky blue pearl. The cleaned he cleaned looked it should have been tossed by the wrap alone and he had it looking beautiful when it was finished. Try going through my history and you may find it. I will look later. If anyone remembers this thread please post. Thanks

Its the automotive wet sand and buff process. Same thing I mentioned. However you have to really examine it to know if it's the plastic discoloring or the actual color itself fading...
