I enjoyed it overall. jeff lynne still sounds like his old recordings! joe walsh hit some notes that I didn't expect out of his vocals. there were some great performances I thought. wasn't feeling a couple of them though..mike

Betty and I were watching it..and I explained the Beatles stuff is SO hard to nail,as every listener knows every note/nuance,..so if you hit 1 wrong note...they catch it..

I also told her it even looked like Joe Walsh was being extra careful in playing this...

It's funny...even though I was only 7 when they were on Ed S. show the first time.....I remember just having a bath, and was watching it wrapped up in a bath towel...seems like my parents were like.."come out and watch this"..

The bought me the 1st and 2nd Beatles LPs together for my 8th B'Day I guess it was....

I thought Joe Walsh and I think the guy was Gary Clark Jr killed it! Best performance of the night from the ones I saw an I started about half hour late. I think their performance even out did Paul and obviously Ringo. Their performances were actually the low points of the show for me. The Beatles music will live forever and always be a band I come back to. I would actually see Ringos all star band again. He keeps a reasonable ticket price for a great show. When I saw him he had Frampton and Jack Bruce and other great musicians. I wouldn't pay to see Paul. Charging outrageous ticket prices to people who already made you filthy rich seems just greedy. Give back a little ya know? Just my opinion. Still my favorite band ever.

For the most part, I enjoyed it. There were a couple of the performances I didn't care for, but overall it was good. I really enjoyed both Ringo's and Paul's numbers, and of course when they performed together.

Now, 50 years ago I was 8. I'm 100% sure I've shared this on another thread some time back, but one of the big reasons it stuck in my mind was because of what happened in our home that night. When the Beatles came on, and they panned the audience and showed all the girls screaming, my crew-cut dad jumped up and turned the channel, saying we weren't going to watch those guys with girls hair and all those girls screaming. When that happened, my 12 year old sister started screaming. After a brief blow between my mom and dad, my mom and sister won and the channel got changed back... we really didn't miss much at all!

I loved all of it. I agree Joe Walsh's performance was the best of the night. I am not a Kattie Perry fan but I thought she did a nice job. There were other performers that I did not care for but did a nice job as well. The guy with the big goofy hat was the worst, but still did the song respectably. All in all it was one of the most entertaining tv shows I have seen for a long time. Add in all of the clips with David Letterman at the studio, interviews with the Ed Sullivan Show staff, audience , Ringo, Paul and the little history segments of each Beetle member in between the performances and it added up to a spectacular show.

Thank you!

Annie Lennox's performance was my favorite. I love everything about her. I'm a Beatleholic from way back. Ringo sang better than he ever has, right? In fact his voice was even better than Paul's at some points. Both look incredibly healthy for their age. Ringo for some reason isn't too deep. I'd love to hear him talk about drumming but I rarely have seen or read much about this. Paul's current band is too sterile and clean - I prefer his previous 1990s version of the band with Hamish Stuart and Blair Cunningham on drums. Or even the various Wings lineups. Great show though. Loved Ringo's kit of course.

I enjoyed the show last night and most of the performances. I was born in 1971, but through my mother and older cousins was introduced to the Beatles at a young age. It was love at first listen.......the love affair continues todayWalking

IMO, Ringo just don't seem like he's 70ish. To me he didn't appear to be any different than he was 10-12 years ago. He actually had a lot of energy, and when I'm that old I can only hope I'll be the same. Yes, I was impressed with his drums, but also impressed with what little they showed of him playing them.

As for Paul, not bad for his age, but not as energetic as Ringo IMO.

Oh, funny how we all have our likes and dislikes... as I'm not an Annie fan and didn't care for her performance. Oh well, to each his own & that's what makes the world go 'round: that was something my dad used to say... (except on that night 50 years ago he evidently didn't see it that way! ). BTW -- at 86, his hair is longer now than the Beatles then!

Blair,

I saw Ringo in the summer (I believe 96) at the Breslin center in Lansing and also Pine Knob. I actually found the pine knob show on VHS later. Pretty awesome. The drummer from Bad Company and the keyboardist from Procol Harum (sp). I want to say Clarence Clemons too. Super great show with tons of great music.
