Talon Percussion

Hi everyone. I was thrifting today and picked up a few pieces of a drum set from Talon Percussion. They are for my son, who is 13. He's been taking orchestral percussion for two years while I patiently assemble him a set of frankendrums from thrift store pieces. These Talon drums are in great shape! It does seem like I'll need to replace a couple of bits, like one of the legs on the bass is missing, and I think there is a piece I need on the hardware that attaches the toms to the bass. All in all, though, I got a bass, two toms, floor toms, bass pedal, and throne for thirty bucks.

I'd attach a pic but I don't see a way to do that.

I'm having a hard time finding anything online about this brand. Will the hardware in a music store be compatible? Can any of you help with info? Thanks.

Here is a thread off the forum. your drum is a MIA low line drum kit, parts from any of the other brands should probably fit or work for you,

Hi thank you SO much for your help. I put Talon in search last night, and saw that thread, but it's just one question with no comments, unless the comments are elsewhere or invisible to new members.

I'm glad to know they are low end drums. Since he will be using them to learn on, he will likely take them apart to learn them pretty often. It looks like the only hardware missing is the one bass leg and something with a square peg that attaches the mounts on the toms to the mounts on the bass drum. Otherwise, he's good to go. Well, I need to find him some cymbals, but I have no doubt that I will.

Thanks again.

And the bass pedal is Enforcer brand, but it's not the type I see as new online. It might not be any good as old as it is. I already have one tucked away that I found a while back for a couple of bucks, though. I can't remember the brand on it, but it's decent.

This will be a good way for him to go for a beginner kit. the part you'er describing is probably an anchor bolt, you can check any local music stores for these parts or even a hardware or home improvement store, take the other anchor bolt to match the size and thread count. lowes and home depot have a bolt chart that you can find this info from, it's an actually thread chart to physically place your bolt in to match them, look in your Craigslist for cymbals you should be able to find some for the right price, How old is your son?

He's 13. And I don't have the bolt for either, but we can carry one in to match it up. I'll need to replace a head, too, I tore one side on the bass when I loaded it into my van yesterday. I work at a music school and was on a mission to find items we need and space was at a premium so I got careless. I'll get him a decent replacement, that one tore like paper.
