I'll tell you what I use to do. I got a piece of carpet for about $30.00 and put a piece of 1 X 2" Wood across one end of the carpet as a bumper for the spurs to sit up against. At first I stapled the wood to the carpet then I used screws with washers.
I was thinking about that outdoor carpet, I actually saw it at HD 2 days ago, but the fact it does not have an anti skid back stopped me from buying it, I think its a good idea though none the less. Maybe you can get some anti-skid rubber paint for the back of it? another good thing is you can cut it to the size you want.
Gary,
Pick up a roll of double sided tape and just tape the rug down a little for your gigs. Probably wouldn't have to use that much of it at all to hold.
Hey Guys, thanks a bunch I just finished it....will post pics tomorrow, got a nice piece of indoor out door carpet for $17, put a piece of wood up front =, and used some adhesive and anti slide tape and it looks great all for 20 bucks, I made is larger so if I bring my bigger set it will work also. 6 x 7..
as promised here are the pics thanks to you guys, with the great ideas, I have a killer mat for around 20 bucks, and its better than any retail one you will find!!!!
I like to use carpet tiles that are about 3'x3'. I use gaffer tape and tape two together on the bottom. They have rubber on the bottom and they dont move anywhere. One my stool sits on and the other my bass drum.
