Swivomatic bass drum pedal: overtighten stroke arm

Hello there.

I recently bought a Swiv-o-matic pedal (my first one) and, after cleaning and lubing it, was ready to try that legend. I was adjusting the stroke arm while I was seated in my stool and this is what it happened.

I must say that I did not applied too much pressure. Maybe my mistake was in using the drum key pictured in photo #3.

Now my dilemma is: Buying a replacement or trying to fix it with some welding? What is that arm made of? (that bolt tells us that is a first generation) It looks like aluminum. What do you think? What would you do?

I wouldnt waste time on a repair. Im sure on ebay you will get a replacement. I wouldnt say its a part that always comes round but i have seen swivo parts. Might even be an idea buying another and making one good one. There are lots of great guys on here who might even have the part for you. Hang on help is on its way..sean

Just been on ebay UK and there is a Big R swivo matic repair or parts and the part you want is in great nik with decent spring. Here is the item number 142788451366 It is £20 GBP and im sure you could knock him down. Also someone in the USA selling the parts you need more common than i thought lots breaking these pedals down ..

That's cast and you can't weld it. It's melt point is lower than it's fusing point meaning it will run down on to the table as molten if you try.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Oddball is right. Forget trying to repair it chuck it in the bin. Plenty of people on the bay selling all these parts get on ebay and start buying will be sorted asap. Im not a rogers buff but the parts ive shown you on the Big R look the same.

Keep in mind that shipping it would be to Spain. It would go far more than 4 bucks.CryBaby

I´ve found a 'bay seller in Europe who has one. Just made him an offer.
