Switching out ludwig ball joints

Hey folks, was wondering if anyone can give me an answer as to whether or not a Ludwig Rocker 9.5mm ball joint can be switched out for another Ludwig 12.7 mm ball joint ? The reason i'm asking is because i found a double tom rocker stand on my local classifieds, and was thinking of using that to mount my tom, but i also wanted to mount a long Atlas scissor lift boom cymbal arm to mount a crash cymbal from. I'm assuming the only difference in ball joint size are the L-rods and not the ball itself ?

Any and all thoughts are appreciated !

Cheers,

Rob

I've switched out ball arms from Gibraltar, Gretsch, Ludwig, and DW stands with no problems. Pretty sure they all come from the same factory.

Yamaha uses a unique size and I think Tama does as well but most of the other major brands seem to have settled on a standard ball size ( or all get them from the same source).

I sounds like the sizes that you mentioned were for the L-arms, anyway, not for the size of the nylon ball. The only issue would be if the L-arms fit the existing brackets.
