I have two, one without a serial number and one with serial number 1285654 (1976?). Both are in very good shape. Is the one without a serial number older (1970?) more collectable with all else being equal? Or should I just keep whatever one has less pitting? Thanks.

The preserial number is from 1960-1963 should be a brass model ?
B/O badge, or Keystone? Makes a difference.
COB pre-serial Keystone would have no pitting.

Post pics of both drums and the badges if you will ?
I would say whichever has less pitting is the one you should keep. I don't think the serial numberless badge is particularly rare.

Assuming we are talking about both B/O badges, I agreed.
Ludwig '67 Classic B.D.P.
Ludwig '79 Classic Pro-beat
C. A. F. '72 New Sonic "The Argentinean Ludwig"
A bunch of Ludwig snares..... + Dyna & P.Tone.
and always trying to recover some orphan drums!!
I'd have to say keep whichever one sounds better. They vary more then you'd think!
It was fairly common for vintage 1970 B/O badge drums, not to have serial numbers. However,if the drum has a "cut" badge,,with no place to stamp a serial number, then there's a very good chance it's brass.
A pre serial Keystone does not absolutely mean you have a brass shell super Ludwig 400.There are supraphonics ,with preserial number badges and crimped share beds, that are Ludalloy, not brass shelled.

Here's pix of both and I will be keeping the one without a serial number on the left cuz it has less pitting although the other one is in great shape too and I will be selling it - anyone need a Supra?
