Super Sensative Question

Loading...

i dont write on here to often, but everytime i have, you guy's are good. Bowing

what i have is a late 60's or early 70's Super Sensative. i have been trying to get it back to original. i just bought the strainer gaurds and new strainer wires, but i am still on the hunt for the original bottom rim. while disassembling and inspecting this i noticed there were black washers on only some of my tension rods.

what is correct?

are they all supposed to have that black washer, or a chrome washer?

further inspection and further investigation, showed my strainer lever (throw off) was on the same side as my muffler knob. i have seen pictures where the throw was on the oppisite side of the knob, and some with it on the same side of the knob.

what is correct?

can somebody help me.

I have a KB 5" Super-Sensitive and looking at the throw-off lever, the muffler is to the right of the throw-off in the middle of the lugs. Meaning the throw-off lug to the right is the lug to the left of the muffler.

All chrome washers on mine under the tension rods too.

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

i have seen the SS with the throw on both sides. i have also seen black washers and chrome washers under the tension rods what is right and what is wrong.

i did a seach on the forum for, "Super Sensative" and only 3 threads came up that did not help at all.

i just want to see if anyone else's SS is like mine and BBK's thanks BackBeat

If yours is like mine, then at least 2 got made the same way. Chrome washers are factory, the only black washers I've seen are very dirty chrome washers, unless you are speaking of rubber gaskets under the lugs, which is relatively new.

The black washers are just the brass washers that have tarnished real badly, seen a million of them, and cleaned a million of them.

Hurting ahh how about that...sensitive...i'll give it a shot, lol. and tarnish, i would have never thought of that. i am going to give it a cleaning. my lever was on the side with the muffler, but i changed it because i saw a picture with it on the other side. so i thought someone must have changed it...i'll have to change it back ahhhh. i still need a bottom rim...does anybody have an extra rim.
