I recently picked up a 2-piece duco Slingerland kit (bass & snare), which I thought could be used at some small venues. Both pieces were in pretty nice condition, cosmetically speaking. Both also came with all original components, as far as I could tell. However, the snare drum came without a batter side head. Once I got the pieces home I discovered that I couldn't fit a head on the batter side of the snare drum. I even tried one of my Aquarian American Vintage heads and it's still not a good fit.
I'm now trying to decide what to do with the pieces and am open to all suggestions. Obviously, I could sell the bass drum "as is", complete with its original hardware and calfskin heads, and then remove all the hardware from the snare drum shell and sell it individually. As you can imagine, I'd rather not go that route if at all possible. Unfortunately I don't know what I can do in so far as getting a batter side head to fit properly on the snare shell.
Any words of wisdom?
THANKS in advance for your time and your help!
