Far as I am aware Nigel has always used a larger set-up. In terms of making a home version I would still keep it in a drum shell. I suggest it simply because some guys are tech savvy and cane make it with some ease. All you really do is reverse a speaker to become a microphone. And any gear that you use isn't pointless.
