Stripping WFL Shell

I will say that my line between the colors was straight and the over all finish was nice. I did not choose the colors or decide how wide the bands were. But in the end it will always bug me that they should have been much better. I traded my work for some cymbals and have offered to return the cymbals but the owner is not worried, especialy now that the drums are now in the midwest and he got what he wanted for them. He is a member here and if he is reading this my offer to return the cymbals still and always will stand. I should have done a better job.

Here is a pic of the jig I made to hold the gun and a pic of the cardboard that sprayed a bunch of test patterns on to get the fog down. I will admit, I put a ton of hours into it and a lot of money for the paint.

Sorry for the long response, I needed to get this off my chest.

I dont know what to to tell you about painting your drums, Purdie Shuffle would be much better help if your using spray paint.

Thank you!

Jeff,

Thanks for posting that description. Sorry you're regretful about it, but it looks like you busted your butt on the project and gave it your best. I hate settling for imperfection in my own work, but it must be done sometimes.

Of course, if my dumpster fodder lauan bass drum came out 1/10 that good, it would be overkill, but I do see what you mean with the line where the black coats overlap or meet.

And you sure got the edges straight. I've seen some factory ones that were pretty uneven.

So you shot the dark on top of the light. I'm going the other way mostly because it looks like they did it that way on my WFL.

I can see where shooting the dark edge color over the lighter stripe would make for an easier way to get the edges consistent.

There's a PM in to Purdie, so I'll see what he says.

The only duco drum I had to look at was a mij Revere snare, from the paint splatters It was obvious that the center was painted first, that is why I did it that way.

Thank you!
