First I just have to say - the reason for calling this Strawberry Sand Paper is from the post on another forum. One person said it looked like sand paper, the next guy said a strawberry. I thought it was funny. Got a snare in a few weeks back and just had this, well....the photo says it all. Had the stripper out for a few projects I've been going at, so I figured I would add it in. Man whatever was on here came off with no effort. Must have been craft paint, and one very thin layer at that. I'm gonna go with old Pearl snare lugs in the center. Plug all the extra holes and the strainer / butt holes. Not sure what I want to do for a finish. I may go wrap, I may go lacquer.

Always good when past refinish attempts come right off. Looking forward to finished photos!

I'd say that was anti-slip floor paint.

And here are the rest of the photos up to completion. This snare has such a crack to it, more than I'd expect from an 8" deep shell. But then again it is thin maple.

And fully wrapped and put back together. Went with a black galaxy sparkle. Gibraltar deluxe strainer ( hole spacing fit the existing holes ) and a Pearl butt end. Evans heads, as no others seemed to fit, but only Evans would fit even before I wrapped it. So I know it's not due to the wrap. Wish I could add it to the collection, but alas - it's for sale. But that's good news for anyone looking for a gem like this!
