Strap for Slingerland hi hat? Last viewed: 5 hours ago

I've started using my old Slingy hi hat (flat base, direct pull) again. I'm having a hard time finding a replacement for the strap. Does anyone have one, or know a source, or -- probably the most sensible -- have the dimensions so I can make one?

Many thanks!

Look for a bass pedal leather strap replacement and adjust it. That's what I did and it worked great.

I've tried that, and the width or length just doesn't work right.

From what I've seen, it's one long leather strap that loops through the 'triangular end of the pull rod. The both ends are screwed to the bottom of the footh plate.

The dimensions would be helpful - I'd go to a local leather/hobby place for the material and a hole punch...

anyone know the dimensions?

I've also heard they stretch pretty easily, but again the modern Kevlar straps don't seem to work...

Leather is pretty cheap through places like Tandy, so just purchase a nice long chunk and work it out with your stand. It should be a fairly simple process for you.

Seemed like a great choise - I went there yesterday, and no go. Too inflexible, too soft, too this or that. I felt like Goldilocks.

I just sent an email to Ed Caccavale, who makes custom stick bags, etc. Should be child's play for hi

He, by the way, made me a GREAT stick holder. Sort of like a quiver, with a strap to hang from the snare drum. It's perfect for the the guick brushes-to-sticks changes. Great piece of gear.

Post pics of the quiver. I might be interested in something like that.

Here ya' go. I absolutely love it -- keeps various size sticks, rutes, etc. handy

Well, I finally said the hell with it, and had a leather repair type guy make one. He did a great job, rounding corners, beveling edges etc. $15. I would have had to spend more on tools.

It's worth it. It's an 804 flat base, in immaculate condition.
