Stewart Drums?

I'm considering getting a set of old Stewart Drums. Any opinions on these? I tried to do my homework, but I can't find much about them. By the way, I am a new member and this is my first post. What a great site!

Hello and welcome to the club.

From what I've gathered on the web and here... Mahogany/luan shells. Possibly made by Pearl (or Tama). Quality similar to other japanese kits of the era. Came in some pretty cool wraps you won't see on US made kits.

Check eBay for some of the other brands Pearl made in the 60's/70's to get an idea of what kits are selling for. You can find a big list of inport drum names here

Thanks BD, from what I can tell, they do seem to be mahogany/luan, painted gray on the insides with that usual 'paint in the grain' appearance. I can pick up the 4 piece (12,14,14,20) in a BDP-like finish for 100 bucks. I figure I'll try them out. They do need a bit of work, but everything's there.

At $100.00, I'd snap them up too!!!

Let us know how it goes.
