I realize it may be too early to know this but anyone have an idea of what may become of Mr. Watts' kits? Did he basically play just the natural finish Gretsch kit live? I know nothing of his collection. Anyway just food for discussion.
Status of Drum Kit(s) of Charlie Watts
Extensive collector; rest assured either Bennett or Maxwell will be brokering the sales. My bet is on Steve. He has a video where he describes doing the much-needed inventory fairly recently (within the last few years).

Yes, and in that video he mentions finding the Ludwig 22, 13, 16 in sky blue in a storage location when Watts thought it had been sold years before.
You never know though. His wife might spread them around on the farm a bit. Kind of like when you see a prewar car rotting into the ground on farm here and there. My wife's next door neighbor (growing up) let his father's Packard rot away for 40 years because he couldn't bear to sell it. Rust to dust.
Wonder truly how many kits he had
As he was worth what 87 mil
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp
once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
Interesting video. I had no idea. I often have dreams about stumbling into an abandoned garage only to find vintage Ludwig drum kits..
Hey guys, would you add the link to see that video? Thanks.
I have read that Charlie collected a lot of gear that belonged to his drumming heroes, and also some holy grail gear like Gretch Gladstones etc.Steve M said there was hundreds of boxes in Charlie's possession so I think there is a good chance there is also a lot of non provenance vintage gear also.
What about the storage unit that was Gene Krupas? Charlie just bought it a year or two ago.
