Starting a clean up on the Star Jr. snare today. Picked up a 10" Remo Vintage Coated Ambassador and a 10" Evans Hazy 300. I may lightly 200 grit sand the snare and coat w/Tung oil first. I have some Novus polish too. Should I use new Nylon or the steel tension rod washers? ...lol
Star Jr. snare cleanup mode
Pics of the snare completed. I did clean up the original head too which I may put on instead. Hey, it's only a Jr. but it's been fun so far. Next the bass drum and tom. Waiting on a bass pedal strap and 9" heads which I found on eBay, NOS.
Looks awesome so far! Love the look of the Vintage A head on there. Are the snare wires on the inside of the drum???

These snares are kind of like the newer Taiwanese/Chinese kids' drums. They put the shortened snare wires inside the drum head to minimize contact and to eliminate the cost of the strainer, using instead an adjustable knob, similar to a tone control. They are really pretty cool, considering the thoughtfulness behind them.
