Star and Royal Star drums?

I have a Star bongo drum and a Royal Star 14" floor tom. I'm just starting to look around for some information on Royal Star. Were they two seperate drum makers or are they made by the same drum makers? I know Star later became Tama but I don't know about Royal Star.

I did find this - looks like I found what I'm looking for.

My floor tom looks like Blue Ripple. It now has a purple tinge because it was plainted black - lacquer - and I had a devil of a time getting it off. I eventually use Acetone. I will have to see what it looks like after I finish cleaning and pressing it out. I took the wrap off - it is in rough shape.

Hi Gary,

If you google Tama Catalogs you can view all of the Star stuff from the 60's and 70's. It looks like Royal Star was their higher line of drums.
