Stamp ID 50s?

Loading...

I am trying to learn this better - is this the hollow stamp making it a 50s? I think I sold this cymbal as a 60s (don't even remember what cymbal it was) but I think it was a pair of HHs that sold very quickly for about 120 or 140. If it were 50s, would it have went for much more? I need to make sure I can id the 50s stamp.

Thanks,

John

that appears to be the mid 50's hollow block logo. usually very desirable to most.

Hard to find that vintage of hats for some reason..

Mostly Rides I find...

I am sure that someone would have paid $250 or more for them...

Well I just sold a pair of HHs of those for $90 out the door over the bay. Looks like I done been Santa Claus!

I acquired that pair of hats from a set of TKO drums that I bought for $70. Wow.

Lesson learned the hard way!

I don't mean to refute ANYONE, but what you have pictured is actually a 60s stamp (unless I've been calling it wrong all this time). Anyway, I've attached a picture of the 1950s hollow block stamp you spoke of. I stole the pic from the internet - I only wish I had one of these cymbals.

I think your price of $120-140 for your hats were pretty average (from what I've seen on feeBay - I'm not a seller), unless they were very early 60s (hand-hammered). I think you may have been able to get a little more than $90 for the others, though.

As Blair mentioned, I've never seen the 50s hollow block stamp on anything under 20 inches.

I hope this helps.

Slingerlynn-

Hummmmm - interesting. These things are commonly challenging to tel. Perhaps Drumaholic will chime in soon and shed his light.

Thanks for the input because now you have me wondering again. Yeah, even if it were 60s - I was in a position where I really needed it to move - needed the money (unemployed right now) and just priced it to move.

Yes, Drumaholic would be the best to consult on this matter...for stamp identification and fair pricing.

I wish you success in your sales and job search.

Blessings,

Lynn

I think SlingerLynn is correct. Here's a 20" A 50's Hollow stamp (Block stamp) I just picked up. You can clearly see the ZILDJIAN is outlined. On yours "ZILDJIAN" is thick lettering. 60's. Excluding 70's I believe the Hollow Stamp is the only three dot stamp that is not 60's.

BTW guys -

Bill told me in a PM that this was mid to late 60s. I am a certainly relieved, though I think I might have had another HH sold a while back that was the same kind of thing. Well I guess if anything, I was used to be a blessing and I can feel good about that I suppose. The glass is always half full.
