SS supra 14x6,5 DIY flightcase

Hey everyone

I have a 1978 Ludwig Super Sensitive 14x6,5 snare.

I'm going to gig with it. I already have a case that I got with it when I bought the snare. It is a case from 'Hardcase' designed to fit a Pearl freefloating snare.

I want to make a cutom flightcase for my Ludwig SS, because I don't find the current plastic case to be strong enough.

Do you guys have any experience for building drum flightcases?

I have never build a flightcase before...

Sir, do you have this case?

If so, what don't you like about it?

Seems really strong. Is it?

There is no protection foam in the interior.

When the snare is in the case, there is to mush pressure on the snareguards, which I think will bend them over time or dammage the shell when on the road or when the case is accidently dropped...

It is not so sturdy as it looks...

For my other drums: Ludwig legacy bassdrum, tom and two floottoms, The cases from 'Hardcase' are fine. I have glued extra protection foam inside them.

But for my SS ludwig snare they don't offer optimal protection.

Get a 15" or 16" tom case and line it with foam yourself...

Cheers
