Just finished these up for a good friend of mine. Turned out quite nice and were my first venture into Sonor drum rehab. Had to do a ton of seam work on the bass drum seams. He thinks they are from the early 60's, but I don't know for sure, as I am not a Sonor guy.

He is looking for a matching floor tom in case anyone knows of one.

Nice ones! I'd guess at 1964-65. Oddball will probably chime in, he will know. There should have been date stamps inside the shells, btw.

I also guess these are 3 ply shells. The 8 lugger 20" bass drum is attractive, much less common than the 6 lugger.

Looks amazing! I did a Teardrop re hab few years back and you can't beat (no pun intended) those shells.

I have the exact wrap for a snare if anyone is interested.

The off-center tom mount and the badge say it's pre-1965. There should be a 3-digit stamp inside the shells somewhere, it'll give you the exact age.

First, an early New Orleans kit didn`t come with a floor tom or it would be a Chicago. Snare depending of course.

Second, The telescopic cymbal arm has the early sixties case, not the round one of later sixties.

Fourth, The none centered mount screams early sixties, but the badge should be the mallet logo.

Third cuz I missed it, The wrap ran with the mid sixties flames.

So it`s tough to nail because SONOR ran the two piece badge early and later in the sixties. It get`s all confusing because I can come up with five different badges from the sixties, mount location is the Key and Henk didn`t comment on anything so I guess everything`s fine and you got a drop kit from hopefully a date stamp inside will reveal.

Is there one ?

Three ply with rings is pre 65. For sure. Is the tom 13x8 ? If sold as a New Orleans kit it would have a BD ,tom, snare, ride and HH.
