If you look through this section, there is a thread "Thunder Down Under" and they discuss this guys logic in attempting to sell at these stupid prices.
I look at eBay as 100 stores all in one place. There is no way to get around that.
There are people that can walk in the most expensive store:
because they can afford to buy what they want.
other people walk in to dream about what they want.
and others go in and buy what they can't afford.
In reverse.
There are people that walk into the dollar store:
well, the rich person will never walk in to the dollar store.
the dreamers can buy what ever they want.
nothing is a dollar in the dollar store :) but you can afford something.
So this is what makes it all confusing to a lot of people. Sellers and buyers from different perspectives all in one place. Throw in a few lunatics for good measure and there you go...

I use the analogy of record collecting. An original Beatles "Butcher cover" record may be "worth" thousands of dollars, but tell that to someone who doesn't give a flying f--k about the Beatles. They might give you a $1 to make a coaster.

You stole my thunder, Mr. Big Pants. This is pretty much what I was going to say.
Ebay is a HUGE freekin' market. There's everything and everybody all in one place. As Kevin and LD pointed out (at the same time, you freaks!), you, the shopper, determine which of the kits you will purchase. If you like kit A because it's "about what I was looking for at a fair price", then that's the one you purchase. If you pull the trigger on kit C because "it's exactly what I am looking for and it's already cleaned professionally and my lawyers will make him lick his own rear if it's not", then that's the one you have shipped to your summer home.
It takes all kinds.
We don't have to understand our differences, nor do we have to accept them. We just need to ensure no one knows we're related.
