Hey all,
A friend dropped by a 'red sparkle' snare that he found not too long ago. It is quite trashed but I can't find any identifiable markings on it. I am guessing early 70's Pearl but that seems to be a stretch. Somebody went overboard on tightening the throw and cracked the shell.
Anyway, before I just throw the whole thing away, does anybody want it for free? Any idea who built this thing?

Please, get this one to Jonnistix so he can make a video of the repair so I can have some guidance on how to repair my Norma snare with the exact same issue!
(By the way, this looks like a Pearl stencil to me as well. Probably a little bit earlier, maybe mid 60s, 'cause it has the thin shell and the re-rings.)
You're the guy that had the bowling ball kit, right? Or rather the mismatched B/B toms and the OBPs?
Yes, I had the B&O blue oyster toms. I sold them on the ebay. I kept the 60's OPB kit and have been slowly trying to clean/restore it. Life keeps getting in the way...below is a pic of the 13" tom that I finished.
It seems we have a taker. I don't mind giving this snare away because I do not have the time or skill to restore it. I am happy somebody is willing to take it so I do not have to feel terrible about junking it.

That is a sweet looking drum. Although I love the color, I could never afford a complete kit in OBP. There is, however, a really nice MIJ wrap that is similar to it and one day a kit will show up and I will have one.
Actually, there are many nice MIJ wraps out there and I love them! And most of the coolest are on the better built kits.
And thanks for the donation, someday, that snare will be in the hands of a needy child that needs it for school.
