When did Slingerland switch from "double headed mufflers" to single on ride and floor toms?
Thanks!!
When did Slingerland switch from "double headed mufflers" to single on ride and floor toms?

I thought that was a Gretsch thing?
I see them on 50's Slingerland toms quite often, but don't know when it changed. It's the same muffler you see in a Radio King snare. I'm trying to date two no-badge Slingy toms, the date stamps are not readable, but they have three holes for the double muffler mounting footprint...
I was thinking one for the resonant head also. Sorry.
No, Lucky, my mistake... I wasn't clear...
But yeah, I need an era-correct bass drum to go with the 9x13 and 16x16. The bass that came with this "kit of shells" is a 12x22 dog tag, so neither of the toms really go with it. The Ebay seller "mis-quoted" the size of the bass, so now I'm running an orphan farm until I find a bass for the two. I did get the double-headed mufflers that came off the toms gratis when I contacted the seller about the mistake. I can make one of the Ensemble kits from the mid-fifties with the 12x22 fairly easily, and I got a killer deal on the three drums to begin with, so I'm not too upset about the whole thing.
So, anyway, I guess my original question still needs an answer....
Thanks in advance, all!!!
Not sure about the mufflers, I would think late 50's. I am trying to put together that same kit. I have the 13" tom but need the other two pieces. Good luck on your journey.
Thanks, Lucky, you too!!
