Anyone know what year Slingerland Chrome-O-Wood was introduced? Looking at a drum with no badge, lacquer maple interior. I had a set I parted out that the serial #'s said approx 73, and the earliest catalog entry on this site is 79.
Slingy Chrome-O-Wood intro year?
I don't know for certain but......Nigel Olson used a COW Slingerland kit on the "Goodbye yellow brick road" album released in 73. Nigels set is pictured inside the album cover. Me thinks early 70's 71 or 72?
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.
Second to that...
First appears in the '71 catalogs. I don't know if there was a '70 catalog ever printed though.. I think Buddy Rich's '71 catalog snare brought about the concept.
Cheers

X3. The '69 catalog doesn't list a COW; and Buddy's snare was a solid shell BR Artist Model. By '76 the COW snare was out of the catalog completely (although it may still have been around if there was NOS available; just not listed in the catalog - and that usually means no production).
Thank you, gentlemen-
