Massive 5-ply Slingerland black chrome set. I visited these three weeks ago when he was charging $700. I offered $600 because there was no mounting hardware and some of the tuning rods were off the drums and rusted. He has two pinstripes for each tom but they are slightly used and off the drums, so I would have needed to buy a set of bottoms. He was willing to take $650, but I had to think about it.

His claims of damage are pretty much true. One of the drums has some scuffing (I can't remember which one), but the finish, for the most part, is very nice on each drum. I made a more complete report on these in another post.

He wasn't a bad guy, and I'm guessing his price increase is his way of leaving negotiating room down to $700.

I'm glad I waited. It was a nice fantasy, but this was really too much kit for me. I've since found a smaller set of black chrome that I'll actually be able to use.
