Loading...

Hello

Looking for a Zoomatic strainer knob for my newly purchased 1966 Slingerland Artist snare. If anyone has a spare I am willing to purchase it

Thanks,

Ron

Hi Ron,

I noticed this same post under Vintage Drums. If you're not familiar with the Zoomatic, you may not be aware that once that knob comes of, it normally won't stay back on. Has to do with the way it is press-fit onto the shaft. You have some choices. You can send the entire strainer to Jim Petty, of JP2creations.com, for a complete rebuild for $100. You can track down a Slingerland tone-control knob, slightly drill it out so you can press it on to the existing shaft, or, install a nice guitar volume knob on it. I have a 60's Slingerland COB Sound King snare drum where a cool volume knob was installed and has a pearl inlay on it. Looks great and works perfectly. You'll need a knob for smaller shafts, not the 1/4" variety. I'll see if I can take some pictures of mine. Hope this helps.
