It seems to me that Slingerland hardware just don't get no respect...despite the fact that IMHO it's well made and has great performance.
So...the 1969 Slingerland kit came with a Tempo King, which I like. But I like the Yellowjacket better.
I tried the Speed Master, but really did not like it. It's just weird...but it DID have a one piece footboard. I tend to think those are comfortable, especially the ones where the hinge is lined up with the ankle, like the Speed Kings, and the DW 5000 AD (?) since I play heel down.
So... what if the Yellowjacket and Speed Master bred a ... uh.... unique offspring?
This isn't the final job; I need to find some better fitting hardware. But here's the deal--it plays great! It feels like the DW, but fits better with the vintage kit. What the heck? Why not?
