Slingerland Vent Badge Location on Snare?

Loading...

Sort of new to the vintage Slingerland group, so I apologize if this is common knowledge. I have noticed on most vintage Slingerland snares, the vent badges are between the 2 lugs to the left of the throw-off.

However, with some Chicago badge drums, I have seen the vent badge between the 2 lugs to the right of the throw-off. Was this a Chicago anomaly?

Thanks!

According to Dr CJ Wenk the badge was placed to the right of the throw-off late '60- early '61. On these drums the tone control is in the panel 180 degrees opposite the badge. The more common Chicago era layout you refer to is left to right in successive panels: Badge, throw-off, tone control. Hope this helps and welcome to the forum.
