Is there any interest in these kits? I saw a 6 piece including a 3" snare for sale at $600.With hh,bass pedal, snare and cymbal stand.Black laquer finish? The snare had a black glitter like finish. I know they are imports, but I thought they were made with North American Maple.Original heads. The 2 bigger toms on a heavy duty stand.Pretty good shape,no gauges or rust.

I have a few of the snares from that Era.. They aren't bad at all build wise.

MusicYo (Dealer) sold that stuff for a song... the best set of the time sold for about 799$... They are A-OK drums... just don't pay too much.

You really can't generalize these. During the 80s and 90s, there were several builders involved. Some were great American builders, some were furniture builders, some were parts-out builders, and some were Asian builders. You need to know what specific kit your talking about before you draw your conclusions.

Is there something specific to look for on the drum? The badge is just a Black and Gold USA. Serial 9xxx,xxx. From what I gathered here on the VDF, it is Asian import possibly made with North American Wood. Marketed under HSS

maybe? If you could point me in the direction of what to look for,I would appreciate it. Something new to learn!

Since Gibson had the name, they did it 2 ways... there's the Taiwan made ones, and there's some USA made ones too. The Taiwan ones I recall said so on them... I have 3 of them... I should go look at them.. They had a black and silver oval badge.
