Tension rods have always been measured from below the collar to the ends of the threads. Every time I need vintage tension rods from eBay, the seller always gives the overall length and I have to ask for the proper measurement!
Sorry to go off about that! Anyway, you probably need a 1-7/8" or 2" tension rods. Slingerland offered both.
