Are the 70's COS stick savers hoops more rigid than the 50's-60's COB stick savers? I am looking for a replacement bottom hoop for my RK snare and want to consider the COS Slingerland hoop. The reason being that this snare shows a drastic improvement of sensitivity and livliness when a die cast and wood hoop has been swapped onto the bottom due to the rigidity. I still prefer the COB hoop so a matching bottom hoop would be nice. Thanks!

If I might add....I know that steel is stronger than brass but I am not sure how thick the hoops are in comparison. I think that they will be stiffer but wanted to check with the forum and get some opinions before I buy one. I am also not sure if one year might be thicker than another.

I've got 14" stick savers in both COB and COS. I haven't subjected them to any testing, but there don't seem to be any huge differences in weight or rigidity between the two.

[*] Steel is probably a little more rigid, but I haven't noticed any practical difference in that respect.
[*] Brass is normally about 10% heavier than steel.
[*] Steel Slingy hoops seem to be a bit prone to rusting, particularly on the inside of the hoop.
